I am an artist and a Professor of Psychology at the University of South Florida. Across both disciplines, my goal remains the same: to deeply explore psychological experiences, with a particular focus on the experiences of women, ultimately aiming to empower them.
In recent years, I have been working on a series celebrating boundary-breaking women, including Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Aretha Franklin, Frida Kahlo, Amy Winehouse, Audrey Hepburn, Lee Miller, Amanda Gorman, Iris Apfel, and Kamala Harris. My art has also found its way onto stylish muscle tees (sold locally at Cozette’s Boutique), and I take great joy in seeing women proudly wearing my depictions of the women that inspire me.
A New Yorker by birth and mindset, I recently spent a year on sabbatical living in an artist’s loft in the New York City Seaport. Immersed in the city’s vibrant art scene, I created new work while drawing inspiration from the surroundings.
Upon returning to Florida, I made St. Petersburg, Florida my home after nearly two decades in Tampa. My new residence and art studio is in the historic Snell Arcade, and I have been immersing myself in the local art community. Notably, I was a featured speaker at the Dali Museum during the Lee Miller: The Woman Who Broke Boundaries exhibit and collaborated with the American Stage Theatre as the featured artist for their production of This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing. My portrait of Amanda Gorman, Uncaged Bird, was featured in the Women's History Month exhibition Women Leading the Change at Brenda McMahon Gallery, where it was awarded Second Place. Most recently, I was honored to be selected as one of twelve local artists to exhibit at the The Dalí Museum for the 10th anniversary of The Dalí Dozen, an exclusive one-night showcase celebrating the region's artistic talent.
My in-home gallery is available by appointment. I also do artwork by commission. Let's chat if you could use some original art in your life and home (check out Home Design in my gallery for inspiration).
